How to make 1 cup of Norwood Heights Gold Ceylon English Breakfast Black Tea

Always use only fresh filtered water or spring water. Fine water makes a finer cup of tea and you will taste the difference.

Never reuse previously boiled water. Always use fresh water. This ensures brewing a finer cup of tea.

  • The bag contains 100gms or 3.5 oz of loose tea leaves
  • Makes 50 cups with 2gms (approx. 1 teaspoon) of tea per cup (8oz of water)
  • Steep one teaspoon of loose tea leaves in a cup for 3-5 minutes with 95-100°C water. (203°F to 212°F)

STEP 1: Boil water.

STEP 2: Add boiling water to the teapot, rinse carefully, and discard this water. This process helps to bring up the heat of the teapot and enhance the tea's flavor

STEP 3: Add 2 grams or 1 teaspoon to the warmed teapot and add 1 extra teaspoon for the teapot. The extra teaspoon of tea is optional. It helps to make a stronger cup of tea.

STEP 4: Add the boiled water to the teapot - 1 cup of water per 2 grams or 1 tsp of loose tea leaves.

Cover the teapot with its lid and let it brew for 3-5 minutes depending on the strength you like.

* Never over-brew your tea. It will produce a bitter cup of tea.

About the Norwood Tea Estate

Tea from Dimbula region in Sri Lanka

The Dimbula district, boasting elevations of 4000ft (1250mt), imparts a unique flavor to our tea. During the 'quality season' from January to late March, we meticulously evaluate teas from this region, handpicking the finest gardens to bring you this exquisite blend.

Our journey leads to Norwood estate, nestled in the enchanting 'golden valley' of Bogowanthalawa within Dimbula. Spanning 381 hectares, with elevations ranging from 3,875 to 5,167 feet, Norwood is not just a plantation but a vibrant community. With a population of 5,500, including 1,068 employed by the estate and 1,264 worker houses provided, Norwood stands as a beacon of sustainable living. Additionally, the estate hosts four government schools, fostering education within its bounds.

Originally established as a coffee plantation during the early 1800s coffee boom, Norwood transitioned to tea following the demise of the coffee industry. Tea cultivation began in the 1840s through the pioneering efforts of Maurice and Gabriel De Worm, although initially abandoned due to cost constraints.
